Throughout France there are many images of Mary Magdalene. She is a beloved saint, known as L’Evangelist de France, the one who brought the teaching of Jesus Christ to France. Here is one more, one of my favorites, a contemporary painting by Jean Bequin showing the Magdalene in the grotto and simultaneously being taken up to heaven by the angels.
