For seven years I traveled to the South of France as often as I could to explore the legends and holy sites of Mary Magdalene. In rural villages and tiny chapels I saw images of the Magdalene unlike any I had encountered as a Catholic child. In this part of France she is primarily portrayed as a teacher, preacher and contemplative.
